Working Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, on the working week you actually use.
How many days of actual work sit between two dates. Both dates are included, the working week is yours to choose, and any holidays are the ones you list.
How it works
Every day from the first date to the last is examined, both ends included, and counted unless it falls on a day you marked as weekend. Holidays are then subtracted, but only those inside the range that would otherwise have been worked — a holiday on a Sunday changes nothing.
There is no built-in holiday calendar. Which days a country takes off, and which of those move when they fall on a weekend, is jurisdiction data with a source and a date on it. Until it can be shipped as such, the honest answer is a field you fill in.
Examples
| Case | Input | Result |
|---|---|---|
| A calendar month | 2026-01-01 to 2026-01-31, weekend Sat–Sun | 22 working days |
| A holiday taken out of the count | 2026-12-21 to 2026-12-31, 25 December excluded | 8 working days |
Frequently asked questions
Why are public holidays not filled in for me?
Because they differ by country, often by region, and they change. A built-in list would be wrong for most visitors while looking authoritative, which is worse than an empty field.
Are both dates counted?
Yes. A Monday-to-Friday range is five working days, because that is what a working period means. The date difference calculator measures the gap instead, and gives one less.
My working week is not Monday to Friday.
Pick another pattern. Friday and Saturday weekends are the norm in much of the Middle East, Sunday-only weeks are common elsewhere, and a seven-day option is there for shift work.
Good to know
- No holiday calendar is assumed for any country. Holidays counted are exactly the ones you enter.
